Teacups and Self-Care

Gee, Chris, Why do you have so many vintage teacups?!

That is the exact question I asked myself the other day in Goodwill as I put another one in my cart for my ‘collection’! lol If you absolutely love it, you can’t leave it behind, right?!

Yes, they are beautiful, dainty and a brief reminder of how quickly time passes compared to today’s cups but there’s more to it than that for me.

Vintage teacups are a simple symbol of self-care. That’s why I love to make them apart of my classes. It reminds me to take time, slow down, enjoy each warm sip with a tasty treat and that my hands are too big for the little handles! I love the different teacup shapes, colors and botanical patterns. I’ll search out the ones that looked aged, crackled, discolored & edged in a golden glimmer…kinda like me!

I may even research the china company to get an approximate date, see the other serving pieces, and feel like I’m a thrifting Queen when I discover what a bargain I purchased it for! That’s all good & fun for me but when I offer tea to my art guests, I am reminding them that every day moments are just as important as special ones. Let’s slow down to create, share experiences, support each other, nourish our souls and warm our hearts together.
