Art helps you to discover yourself, right? Well, as I sip on my tea, I’m pondering the question as to why I’ve been creating vintage & distressed art pieces lately. Is it a style I’m developing, a feeling worth expressing or simply a series to try? I’m not sure. I think it started with my love of the hand-painted roses on my delicate vintage tea cups & old laces that I started collecting on my thrift adventures. I’m a modern woman with all the perks; so it’s not like I want to go back in time to corsets & pantaloons. I’m more likely to be found in tie-dyed & bell-bottoms.
Maybe I’m expressing an appreciation of time & growing older. Like weathered wood on a barn, rusty old hinges or childhood memories of wallpaper patterns gone by, time is a gift that not everyone gets to enjoy & cancer takes away in an instant. Hand-crafted on my canvas are soft colors, feminine beauty reflecting delicate textures of time gone by, outlines of lace, pops of sparkle to catch your eye, and images that show the fragile side of nature with uplifting messages to inspire the viewer. Sounds more like the barefoot, boho, hippie-free spirit side of me! lol
So, we’ll see what unfolds. That’s the joy of an art journey, right?
From my heart to yours,
